- How do lessons work?
- Each group of characters opens with an introduction — you see the kana large and hear it spoken. When you're ready, you practice with multiple-choice questions. Your answers are recorded automatically, so there's no self-grading.
- Do I need an internet connection?
- No. KanaLearn works fully offline, including the spoken audio, which uses your device's built-in Japanese voice.
- What's free, and what's the purchase?
- The vowel groups are free to learn. A single one-time purchase ($2.99, "Full Access") unlocks all remaining hiragana and katakana groups. There's no subscription.
- I bought Full Access but it's not unlocked / I got a new phone.
- Open Settings inside the app and tap Restore Purchases. Purchases are tied to your Apple ID and restore for free.
- How does the streak work?
- Complete at least one lesson a day to keep your streak alive. Miss a day and it resets. You can set your daily goal in Settings.
- Is my data private?
- Yes. KanaLearn has no account and no tracking. All your progress stays on your device. See the privacy policy.
- I found a bug / have a suggestion.
